UBCO STEM ENGAGEMENT DAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2026

Calling all Grade 4 and 5 (yes, split 3/4 or 5/6 are welcome, based on teacher discretion) teachers of SD22, SD23, and Private/Independent Schools in the Okanagan Region!

We are looking forward to hosting our annual UBCO STEM Engagement Day on November 12, 2026 with a choice of 4 different activity sessions running from 10:00am-2:00pm.  Last year our registration filled in under 5 minutes, so we suggest being prepared at a computer and logged in early.  Registration will open on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8 at 8:00AM, and your registration is only confirmed once you have chosen an available group of activities, completed your registration details, and “checked out” your cart.  Please note that this is a FREE event to attend, however bussing and regular student snacks/lunch are the responsibility of individual schools.

During registration you will choose an “Activity Group” which contain a pre-selected group of 4 different activity sessions, not individual session choices, as in years past.  We found that this removed most registration errors and time spent in the registration system.  You are able to plan ahead and create an account with Activenet, to save time on registration day.

*Please note that we have adjusted times over the years in consideration of busses being able to return to schools in time for dismissal.  If you are unable to stay for all 4 sessions, please do not register as our session hosts plan and prepare for 4 groups of students each.

Additionally, we will be combining the “Expo of Awesome/Exploring STEAM Futures” past events with the UBCO STEM Engagement Day, to better serve the community and more effectively distribute resources.  As such, we have altered the classroom ages to grades 4-5 for this event.

We will offer a waitlist for a short period in case we are able to add sessions, or a registered group is unable to attend.

Schedule:

Buses arrive in parking lot H (using Innovation Drive entrance) (9:30-9:45am)
Participants escorted to Session 1 by volunteers (9:45-10:00am)
Session 1 (10:00-10:45)
Break and transition (10:45-10:55)
Session 2 (10:55-11:40)
LUNCH (11:40-12:00) *many indoor common spaces are available to teachers and students during this time
Session 3 (12:00-12:45)
Break and transition (12:45-12:55)
Session 4 (12:55-1:40)
Students return to buses in parking lot H (using Innovation Drive entrance) (1:40-1:50)
